the promise I kept is the road to exile
Who: Gilgamesh, Berserker and their respective Shadows, Saber, Kiritsugu. Anyone who wants to show up.
What: Trying to take out two Shadows in one strike.
When: November 19
Where: Gil's pad
Rating: PG-13
Warning:
Midnight. It was about the time that Shadows started appearing. In the last few days, this had come to mean representations of the bottled up feelings of many of Prospero's residents. Usually, this would be something that could be dealt with the citizens themselves without obstructing the progress towards bringing down the next Full Moon's Shadow. However, Kiritsugu has come to learn that said beings have the powers of their owners before coming to Prospero. Considering many belonged to Servants, that was a problem.
Kiritsugu had not completely ignored Lancer's words, much as he would have liked to. Caution, the ever-growing motivation for so many of Kiritsugu's atrocities, has started to come back, little by little. Kiritsugu can take pride that he's not quite the same man he was during the war, and certainly not close to the one he was nine years ago. But even now, he recognizes that Servants can only be stalled with a plan.
Having convinced Saber to engage Archer's Shadow during their conversation, Kiritsugu can at least consider that part taken care of. From there, it's simply a matter of drawing Berserker's Shadow nearby. Going from their typical behavior, it is not far-fetched to assume it would chase its owner, so grabbing Berserker's attention works just as well. His job not being suitable to travel to other places of the city, he had no choice but to abandon subtlety for a step of the plan, creating a message with a computer as an anonymous warning that Saber would do so. The implication of knowledge of their acquaintanceship may be misinterpreted as Kiritsugu knowing of their past, but fact of the matter is that he's not aware of anything about Berserker beyond his Noble Phantasms and fixation with Saber. He doesn't need more. Eventually, the message will be discovered. Hopefully he can find a way to dispose of the Shadows for good by then.
For now, Gilgamesh is the priority. Kiritsugu has seen the treasury. He cannot let such a Noble Phantasm run unchecked.
Contrary to his typical behavior, he does not light a cigarette during his observation. Servant eyes are a resource to be reckoned with, and to give himself a way with a light would be foolish. The fact that he's observing from a building a dozen blocks away is inconsequential. More destructive than any cigarette, Kiritsugu recognizes it as an effect of the aforementioned caution.
As the scope of a Dragunov remains fixed on the entrance of the target building, Kiritsugu finds himself unaffected by the delay.

She had to find Archer's Shadow.

Meanwhile, the shadow reveals himself only long enough to watch his other self die a most pitiful death. That howl of laughter does little more than alert the others to his presence, as if this display hadn't already done that much.

While it is perplexing to him that his Shadow, which is supposed to be the facts of his true self that he denied judging from what people has been saying, his Shadow was just a hollow reminder of what he is in the 4th Grail War, a pile of madness and hatred against his kind king.
...Perhaps this is his repressed part.
Perhaps it is not.
But what is certain is that he needs to survive this encounter and see to it that his king is alright and not harmed by hi- no, her own Shadow.

There goes one of his plans.
However, there will be no person it can manifest off if it is defeated. There's only one way to stop it now.
Kiritsugu's not absolutely certain of Berserker's chances of victory. There's a high probability that it will be distracted by Saber. His scheme hinges on the chance that Archer's Shadow won't take that well, and defend Saber from death. That is the base of Kiritsugu's plan, lacking any Masters to dispose of.
However, if Gilgamesh's Shadow possesses the same hatred towards what he considers a 'mad dog', the situation may yet be salvageable. In any case, it would be in Saber's favor to flee, which could turn this into a pursuit instead of a battle, but knowing the bravado with which she stated her intentions, Kiritsugu considers that improbable.

Saber wastes little time in calling for Eligor. A rare moment as she hardly ever calls for him in public, but it was all too late. Bringing up her arms to shield her face from the sudden gust of wind that came with it, Saber wasn't able to witness the death of the King of Heroes she often watched over.
Galloping around to stand by Saber's side, her Persona fails to despawn. It was almost as though he held a greater understanding of the situation in comparison to Saber. For the first time in her life, her thoughts were clouded by her emotions. A crippling mistake when it came to a delicate situation like this.
"You!!!" Withdrawing her blade from over her shoulders, she turns her gaze up towards where she heard the laughter. "Come down here and fight like a man instead of hiding away in the shadows like a coward!!!"

And several second later, he was standing upon the nearest street light, staring down at the king with those disturbing golden-yellow eyes. ...But were they really as bad as the real Gilgamesh's piercing crimson? A cruel, almost mocking grin spread across his face.
"Saber." ...That voice, there was obviously something off about it. But hearing it say her name? That was sure to make her skin crawl just a bit.
"I've been waiting for you. It's rude to keep a king waiting."

"Then you should have sought me out." Must she always do everything? "Do you know what your actions have done?"
Besides make her show a rare soft side to that now deceased and despicable man?
