truthsnomiracle: (Looking down on you)

[Was that a wince? Hard to tell, as Edgeworth is quick to remind himself that he's no longer what he was just accused of being -- that he's better than that now -- and mask his hurt feelings with disdain.]

You have mistaken me for a younger and less principled man, Miss Onimaru. Had the man in question been presented with this same situation, he would have allowed you to suffer in such a way -- your status as a criminal, indeed your status as a defendant, would have been excuse enough for him to turn a blind eye to justice.

Make no mistake -- I am entirely unimpressed by your actions, and if the situation were one that would allow the truth to prevail, I would put everything into proving the case against you beyond a shadow of a doubt. However, as the situation stands, the truth can only fall through the holes in the natives' capability to grasp reality, as much as I may wish otherwise. As a result... in this case, proper scrutiny of the facts cannot result in justice. There is no path to a trial for your crimes that is truly fair.
