Cold was my soul [CLOSED]
WHO: Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi and Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri
WHAT: HYPHEN PARTNERS, FORM OF... A HEAVILY-DELAYED AFTERMATH LOG!
WHEN: 26th of March
WHERE: ...somewhere, IDK.
RATING: PG
[She was bleeding.
Twice in less than a week she'd ended up wandering this place with her usually-immaculate clothes stained. It was disgraceful. And after all that, there had been no point to going out at all. Diarmuid was not there.
Either someone had set her up or he had escaped. Most likely it had been a joke or a trick; certainly, the man she had encountered there had been a dangerous one, but not one who could harm him.
Hiding inside of the alleyway, she sent the persona - Leanan Sidhe? How quaint - out of it to see if there was any danger. It wasn't much different from having a familiar, if one that couldn't go very far from oneself. She almost groaned at the flash of blue that was spotted.
Kayneth was not going to be happy. But ah well. At least her injuries were not severe.
...or at least not as severe as the ones she had already endured. She suspected she was going to be holed up in the apartment for a while. Her side ached from the knife that man had wielded. Raising her voice, she called out.]
Kayneth! To your right!

Kayneth! To your right!

What the hell was she thinking? Obviously, she knew what kind of danger awaited her, so why...?
He'd started out mostly angry, but as time wore on, he was becoming more and more overcome with dread. Certainly, death wasn't permanent here, but... even under these circumstances, what if he came across Sola's [NASUVERSE CENSOR BLOCKS]-
oh.
...oh.
well, he would head to his right, then.]

Were you on your way home?

...WHY IS THE ONLY TIME HE GETS REMOTELY PHYSICAL WITH SOLA WHEN SHE'S INJURED....................... it's dark enough that he can't see that at the moment, but he's still too agitated to appreciate it.]
I was looking for you, actually. What are you doing out here this late? You've been paying attention to the news, haven't you?
no subject
Luckily the dark is enough to hide the scowl on her face at those words.]
That was why I went out, in fact. Or related to it. Kayneth, didn't you get my note? I expected you to wait for me if I didn't return.
no subject
That's what I had assumed, but... I don't understand why you'd recklessly endanger yourself like this! You're in no condition to be fighting dangerous serial killers!
no subject
Because-!
[She cuts herself short, feeling frustrated with herself. What on earth was wrong with her? There was no love curse here to make her act this way. Only the remnants of desperation and need. Fragments of memory, of warmth and of the happiness of his presence.
It was only with a great force of will that she kept herself as stiff and immaculate in posture as she did.]
It doesn't matter. I failed.
no subject
[He pauses. There are more things to worry about than that line of questioning.]
...did you fail to encounter the killer, then?
no subject
[She shakes her head fiercely.]
My reasoning is my own business, Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi. Why are you so concerned?
no subject
Someone with a-you're not injured, are you?
no subject
[Now that her annoyance has died down, the harshness of her breathing is likely more audible.]
How good are you with stitches?
no subject
OH GODDAMNIT]
That was precisely why I was so concerned about this! Are you trying to make getting injured a regular occurrence?
[He pauses. It's usually very difficult to get him to this point, but this is really quite worrisome.]
...I'll be able to take care of it, I'm sure.
no subject
[Pushing herself away from the wall, she tries to squirm past him.]
Are you done ranting? I will not do it again. Although sometimes sacrifice is necessary.
no subject
[...yeah, he's done-no, wait
what]
...what are you saying? You... shouldn't feel the need for that.
no subject
[Leanan Sidhe appears again, smirking a little at Kayneth.]
...Kayneth. Answer me this. If there was something you wished to protect, and you had no power to do so, what would you do?
no subject
[He actually looks pretty relieved at that, since it means that he doesn't have to worry about her as much. ...of course, that line of questioning... he... doesn't like where this is going.]
I would become more powerful, obviously.
no subject
People say that the way to awaken them is to put yourself in danger. And they were right.
[Not that she... had that on her mind at all.]
I took a knife for backup.

[She feels a little like she's won now. Oooh, yeah, confidence rising.]
no subject
[...yeah how many of these things has Kayneth won anyway
(the answer is zero. their canon could be fate/how many times kayneth has won an argument with sola.)]
no subject
[Isn't it sad, Kayneth? Poor guy doesn't know what he's gotten into.]
no subject
...it... wouldn't have happened, of course.
[man even he sounds unsure here. god, he hates not having Proper Magic.]
