The Emperor Awakens
Who: Jin Kisaragi and anyone else!
When: Saturday, August 27, during the Dark Hour
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Jin bites off more than he can chew. However, that turns out to be precisely what the doctor ordered!
Well, this had certainly gotten out of hand quickly. Jin had been initially attacked by a pair of Visceral Mayas. Normally they wouldn't have been much trouble to dispatch -- but there was that pesky resistance to physical attacks to deal with, which meant that Jin's kicks, sheath strikes, and sword strokes did absolutely nothing to them.
On the other hand, they only made things worse, for the noise had attracted even more of the monsters. Jin quickly found himself overwhelmed by their numbers, and attempted to withdraw as a result.
But the Shadows wouldn't give up so easily. They were quicker than Jin had anticipated, and he found it difficult to put any distance between them and himself. And soon enough...
"No...damn, this can't be!"
He found himself in a dead end. There was nowhere else to retreat to, and no one appeared to be nearby this time. Meanwhile, the Visceral Mayas crept ever closer. Jin clutched his blade tightly, not sure how he was going to get out of this.
"No...damn you, you accursed filth! I won't let it end this way! Not now, not EVER!"
...And as Jin yelled, something happened.
"I am thou.
Thou art I.
Call my name and use thy hidden power..."
And somehow, Jin knew. He wasn't sure why, but he knew exactly what he needed to do. And so he yelled out the name:
"OKUNINUSHI!"
Upon the command, the form of a legendary king and god took shape in the air before Jin. With one motion, it directed an attack at the nearest Maya -- a Bufu spell. The spell wiped out the Shadow in one hit, and the Persona faded.
"So this is the form my power takes in this realm," Jin mused aloud. "Very well, I accept it!"
With that, he pointed his katana at the Shadows. "I possess a power the likes of which you cannot comprehend. You cannot ever hope to strike me down! I am Jin Kisaragi, and I am the order that will restore balance! Prepare yourselves for your end!"

A little late to assist before the Persona had been summoned, Ledah approached with his lance in hand, taking stock of the Shadows. "You might as well save your breath."
no subject
A Persona.
Something she's yet to acquire for herself, but it was still impressive to see. Running over towards him (a light jog over anything else), she waves.
"Shouting like a madman. What has gotten into you?"
no subject
He rounded a corner, ignoring most of the Shadows well more like evading them quietly. Unnecessary fighting wasn't something he was fond of. Despite all that he had yet to figure out how to grasp this power. For now he's sticking to hitting them.
He stopped midway to notice something going on. There was a guy that was shouting. Another glance and he saw the Persona. He might have been impressed but the way he was handling those things were kind of sloppy and a little careless.
At least that's what he was saying.
"Shouting like an idiot isn't going to do much for you," he mused briefly maybe leaping off a nearby cushion he was currently observing from.

Okuninushi appeared again, wiping out another Visceral Maya with Bufu.

After saying that, Jin summoned his Persona again. Once more, a Bufu spell wiped one Shadow out.

That was the only word Ledah uttered before one of the Shadows suddenly burst into flame. A tall godlike man, red-skinned with a fierce expression appeared where the Shadow once was.
"I am thou, and thou art I... I am Bishamonten, the Heavenly King of the north: I will carry out your mission when you cannot."
Ledah regarded it curiously, then turned back to Jin. "It seems that being shouted at is enough to awaken a Persona. Thank you for that."
(There had been some frustrated and despairing thoughts beforehand that he simply hadn't expressed, but Jin didn't need to be informed.)

"You're like a brute swinging left and right. You'll only exhaust yourself quicker."
Though if the guy had a death wish then so be it. He wasn't going to stop a guy that wants to get himself killed or something not that these weaklings were of any possible use for killing people. Tokiya's face remained unchanged even though he was shot a look.

She wants to question where his honor is, but the chill in the air keeps her from advancing too much. Recovering from her wound still left her susceptible to such things, so instead she remains parted from his side with the group of shadows.
"Who is that?"

...Or so Jin would respond, if the Shadows hadn't gotten too close for comfort. He froze another one that came too close.
"It's a Persona, that's what it is!"

A frown as she backs away from the scene just a bit. She knows all too well she might become a liability for him if she draws near.
"They use sorcery?"
no subject
Jin had seen sorcery. It had only been one instance, but that kind of teleportation -- not to mention what that accursed child kept throwing at him -- wasn't any standard magic.
Jin summoned Okuninushi again. Once more, a Visceral Maya was destroyed.

If that was the case, why does he continue to allow such a being to assist him? Survival? No, this was all too much for her to understand with just a glance. It was a situation where she'll have to speak with him after.

At least the numbers were thinning out now. And the amount of time between each Bufu casting was dropping, so the Shadows were dropping faster, too.
no subject
"Will you be alright?"
And then she shows the concern, tiny lips pushed out in a manner that hinted such, even if the tone she took was solemn and bold.
no subject
That was debatable. While Jin was cutting a quick path through the horde, they were also slowly closing the distance. It was hard to say which would happen first -- Jin wiping them out, or the Shadows entering attack range.
no subject
Honest, but that's just the way she is. Sorry Jin.

More freezing. Just a bit more advancement.
He might be in need of a distraction.
