Be a great wall that towers over all.

Who: Issei ([livejournal.com profile] unknownrival) and everyone else~
Where: Ace Karaoke, a karaoke bar.
When: 7:30 PM of September 20th and onward.
Summary: Singing. It is happening. You can't stop it.

The karaoke bar is well-lit, in good repair, and is generally a nice establishment before some people get into it. There is a stage with several microphones on it and a karaoke machine. You select the song you want to play from a book, enter the numbers in the machine, and it starts playing the instrumentation (and backing vocals) while showing you the words you should be singing.

If you don't like any of the selections, you can connect a laptop to the karaoke machine and select a karaoke track from elsewhere for the machine to play.

Food and drink are available, and not all of the drink is alcoholic. Customers who get too rowdy will be asked to leave, but everyone gets a little braver with some drink in them, and sometimes that's needed to get up on stage and sing like you don't know how terribly you're singing.

[Even as a human, Lancer had a very high alcohol tolerance. However, he had apparently reached the point where silly decisions seemed brilliant. Why else would he be shuffling through songs with a vaguely puzzled look on his face? Well, he at least understood how the device was meant to work, at least. That seemed simple enough. The difficult part was that he knew no modern music at all, let alone modern music in English.]

[Ah, well. Part of being a knight was taking risks. Even just silly little ones.]

[Lancer, as it happened, had an excellent voice. This is what happens when you're cool enough for Midorikawa Hikaru. Though he pretty much personified 'speak softly and carry a big stick two lances', when he did speak it was always in smooth and even tones.]

[So now, when he started singing? Despite the shaky start and occasional stumbling over unfamiliarity?]

I don't wanna be lonely no more
I don't wanna have to pay for this
I don't want to know the lover at my door
Is just another heartache on my list

I don't wanna be angry no more
You know I could never stand for this
So when you tell me that you love me know for sure
I don't want to be lonely anymore

[You're damn right he was good at it.]

[this is what happens when nao can't find midorikawa songs that match lancer's voice enough.]

[Lancer laughed a little awkwardly as he walked offstage, honestly feeling mildly uncomfortable--if he'd known it would have been that appropriate for him, the former Servant would probably have opted for something else.]

Really, you're just flattering me. [Meanwhile, he'd get himself another drink to counter the embarrassment he found himself feeling.]

Very well done. [And he's honestly looking impressed, of course.]

Are places like these common now? I can't say singing was an unusual thing back home, but I'm interested to see it in this age.
croibhristeoir: (not as brave as you were at the start)

I did catch on to that much, at least. Thankfully, I'm not completely lost here.
