Jailed Noodles: It's just water and noodles

Who: Miki, Edgeworth, Anyone who wants to visit Miki in the slammer
What: Some pre-trial talks
When: January 14th
Where: Prospero City Jail
Rating: PG

[This wasn't really how Miki wanted to spend a weekend, or any weekend, really. She had gotten in trouble before of course, but usually her mother was there to come in and take care of it.

But now she was in Jail, waiting for some guy to come in and talk to her about what she did. She didn't think what she did was that wrong, she was gonna take the chains off after she was done, and she wasn't going to try and hurt anyone, she wasn't even going to touch any of the normal students.

She spend most of the night awakes and staring at the ceiling from her cot, Thinking about how she got here. It's just like when she was away from home after high school again, everything went out of control then too and she had to end up going back home anyway. Miki doubted that they would let her go home now, everyone seemed so serious about what she did.

"Maybe Mom was right, I need to start thinking about what I do first" she thought, still mostly motionless in her cot when the officer came in to take her to the meeting room.

Feel free to come visit and talk to/Mock Miki for her incarceration.
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth is glaring harshly at you. (Glare)

To begin with, you did not have to do such a thing. You were not operating under coercion, nor was there any lack of alternative means by which to subject the students to combat training. Had you for but a moment given due consideration to how best to accomplish your goals in ways that would remain within the bounds of the law -- at the least, by involving consent -- you would not be in this position to begin with! Ergo, your actions are deserving of punishment; I merely wish it to fit the crime as closely as the circumstances allow.

Furthermore, I cannot in good conscience give a full trial anything but my all. It is a prosecutor's duty to ensure that every facet of a case be brought to light, lest a false verdict be rendered. The man who would twist the truth to serve his own ego... is a man who must remain dead. To be entirely honest, I feel unclean in even considering the compromise that occurs to me.
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth closes his eyes and sighs. (Sigh)

[And with that, Edgeworth calms down considerably and sighs in relief.]

Thank you. If it's any consolation, your cooperation does allow you the opportunity to potentially suffer as light a sentence as the charges allow. Are you familiar with the concept of a plea bargain?
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth is side-eyeing you disapprovingly. (Unimpressed)

To even suggest that you plead guilty so that I might sidestep the need to argue your case in full is itself a compromise. In an ideal world, I would argue every case until only the truth remained. That simply isn't an option under the circumstances.

Given the context in which we find ourselves, I am indeed willing to grant you leniency in punishment this once as well. It should be possible to not only minimize the length of the jail sentence, but also to commute much of it to a fine, community service, or some combination of these. I cannot guarantee that you won't have to deal with frequent visits from a parole officer, however -- nor can I promise any sort of mercy should your judgment fail you so thoroughly a second time.

[In other words, this is your one Get Out Of Jail Free At A Discount card. Don't blow it, Miki!]
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth crosses his arms and taps his finger on one of them. (Attempting patience)

It is possible that other kidnappees would be willing to lend you financial aid in your time of crisis, provided that you are indeed worth bailing out. As for a parole officer, that's someone whose job it is to monitor those who might lapse back into criminal behavior, particularly those released from prison ahead of schedule.
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth taps his temple, then grins victoriously. (Try using this)

Recall what happens to the natives during the Dark Hour.

If you are truly worthy of the aid, you shouldn't need to ask.
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth shrugs with a smug smile on his face, then shakes his head. (Smug shrug)

I apologize for him...

Is it not appropriate that you should reap what you've sown?
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth peers at you dubiously. (Skeptical)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-01-16 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Is there no one you can trust to perform such a role in her stead?
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth crosses his arms and taps his finger on one of them. (Well?)

Given how many warriors there are in this place, I find that hard to believe.

[With that, Edgeworth stands and begins to turn to leave.]
truthsnomiracle: (Turned away)

I hope for your sake that we never meet under circumstances similar to these again.

[And off he goes.]
