The bar. It was a pretty much standard bar, in which people drank alcohol and were not particularly classy nor crude. Ryuunosuke had kept employment here for a surprisingly long time.
He was humming cheerfully to himself and cleaning bottles when a guy he didn't recognize sat down at the bar. "What can I get for you?"

Of course, that was impossible here-somehow, his magic had been disabled, leaving him defenseless against a cadre of people who wanted to kill him because he did something to Lancer. Who probably deserved it anyway.
There wasn't anything he could do about it. At the moment, anyway. At the moment... he really needed a drink. Of course... he couldn't go into a classy establishment looking like he'd just gotten out of some sort of fistfight, nor could he be caught dead in a place where looking like that was practically expected. So-even though it was beneath him, he decided that his only option was a middle of the road bar.
Which was why he was here right now.
"The most expensive beverage you offer."

Ryuunosuke pulled a bottle off the shelves and poured him a nice drink. "Here you go, sir. Need an ice pad or something to go with?"
no subject
Of course, he was in a mood to be overly critical of everything at the moment. ...Though-
"You have those sorts of things here?"
no subject
It took only a second to fetch an ice pack and hand it over.
"That looks pretty nasty. How many people punched you today?"
no subject
"That's not exactly any of your business, is it?"
no subject
Ryuunosuke thought for a second. "I'm guessing at least a couple... man, on your first day here? What'd you do to piss them off?"
no subject
Granted, it probably could have done him some good to vent, but that wasn't appropriate for a man of his station-especially if the person he was venting to was some sort of commoner-
...wait... he'd seen that? Kayneth knew very little about technology seeing as it was absolutely useless to a mage like him, so... what did that mean, exactly...?
"Furthermore, even if I were inclined to talk about it, I'm rather unclear on the details of your last question myself."
no subject
"Well, welcome to Prospero - I'm Ryuunosuke Uryuu, nice to meetcha."
no subject
"Is that commonplace around here?" said Kayneth, a hint of incredulity in his voice. "In any case... I assume you already know of me, but as a formality-I am Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi."
no subject
Wait, he's got it!
"You're a Master? I'm a Master! Let's be friends!"
no subject
This was one of those certain other things.
"...What?"
no subject
Clearly there was nothing wrong with this picture at all.
no subject
"Do you even know what being a Master entails...?" said Kayneth incredulously. What was this person doing as a master? He let someone wearing an anachronistic outfit wander around a city with children in tow!
no subject
Yeah, what was with the silly war anyway?
no subject
Kayneth resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose. This conversation was threatening to give him a terrible headache.
no subject
Ryuunosuke's conversations did that to people.
no subject
Kayneth rather doubted he had a pedigree of any sort, but some magical training was better than some uninvolved commoner just waltzing into a war that was supposed to be filled with glorious gentlemanly mage battles.
no subject
He couldn't even use the right word for it for Zelretch's sake.
no subject
"This is absolutely insulting," said Kayneth, downing the rest of his drink.

Well, he didn't care. As soon as he'd paid, he was already standing up and heading out to leave.
no subject
Like that would happen.
