Nothing like tea on a summer's day

Who: Saori, all the people working at the tea house and you (aka everyone get in here!)
What:  Grand opening for the tea house!
When: All day, Friday June 1st
Where: Saori's tea house Elysium
Rating: Safe for work, maybe PG rating

Notes: Let's do this one like the beach party. One character per thread, everyone is free to do their own thing here. Employees can chat it up with guests, hijack a someone's table, ask if they can take a look at the mini-base upstairs, etc. Also retconning the hidden staircase to the base to inside the storeroom so no nosy NPCs can find it. Saori will eventually give everyone on the network a copy of the key to that storeroom.

[Today was the day the tea house finally opened. It took some time, but Saori's dream of owning such a place came true. Since today was an important, a little guest spoiling wouldn't hurt anyone. She had skipped over last night's Dark Hour so she could get up early and get some macarons, biscuits, scones and the ingredients for sandwiches in the afternoon.

It's a small building but it sits a number tables for 2-4 people. There are some booths and some tables available. If a guest wanted to, they could have a seat outside in the mini garden filled with various flower bushes.

The plants were watered, hot water and some coffee ready, and all the treats for the morning were set. Time to open shop!]

[Well, this was new. ]
technologic: (❦ And I started staring)

[April seems to have already made herself comfortable, as she's taken a seat out in the mini garden and seems to be working her way through a pile of macarons and biscuits. She can certainly eat a lot for someone of her size...]
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

*Honestly, Margulis was only here out of obligation. He wasn't the type to idly socialize and had always thought the point of a tea house was to be quiet. The name of the place didn't particularly thrill him, either. Elysium. That was somewhere he was fairly sure he didn't belong. But he'd agreed to work here, so he couldn't quit on opening day...*

[Naturally, Miles Edgeworth would be found at the opening of a new tea house of any potential worth, kidnappee-run or not. Already, he's sipping some tea at one of the tables. However, two details are amiss here: one, the table he chose is centrally-located, and two, there's room for four at it.

Approach?]
croibhristeoir: (to make it a place worth living in)

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2012-06-01 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Saori, good afternoon. Have you been well?
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-01 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
*Personally, Margulis would have waited until the initial crowds had died down, if only to avoid most of the natives who couldn't seem to get it through their thick skulls that he wasn't some kind of street performer, no he did not dye his hair and no he would not tell them where he got his scar. But since he worked here, he was somewhat obligated to show up.

Luckily, at least one person caught his eye as someone he didn't mind talking to, so he ended up finding his way to Edgeworth's table with a cup of tea for himself.*

Is this seat reserved?
truthsnomiracle: (I suppose.)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-06-01 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Not at all, given that I've stumbled into an obligation to be more approachable.

[In other words, in its own way, this was work.]
misplacedxsheath: (Now what?)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-01 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
*He nods and takes a seat across from Edgeworth, looking somewhat out of place but not really caring.*

Ah yes, the burden of any form of leadership. Count yourself fortunate, you at least only have to deal with those who have enough intelligence to be interested in your proposal.
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth is rubbing his forehead with his fingers to stave off a headache. (This is giving me a headache)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-06-01 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't count myself as especially so, given that those of sufficient intellect are disturbingly scarce as always, to say nothing of the fact that I'm regarded as a leader by default rather than due to having any choice in the matter. [Sip.]
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-01 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Such is the fate of the few with actual talent. There's a saying that's persisted even into my time: if you want something done right, you'll have to do it yourself. It's the only way of being sure your ideas don't get warped into something entirely different through either selfish modification or sheer stupidity.
truthsnomiracle: (An unfortunate truth)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-06-01 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
And yet there is a danger to allowing ideas to go unchallenged. Furthermore, if I were truly able to accomplish this alone, it would in fact be done by now. Our need for a justice system of our own came to my attention in January.
misplacedxsheath: (Who thought that was a good idea?)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-01 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
In this case, it's gathering ideas and making the final decision on what to implement that you can't afford to leave to others. But from what I've seen so far, you're doing a decent job of coming up with ideas and finding...qualified people to offer their suggestions, although I still can't say I entirely trust all of the company you keep.

*And three guesses who it is he distrusts.*
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth crosses his arms and taps his finger on one of them. (Attempting patience)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-06-01 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I have spoken to him concerning your assertions. He claims that neither his side nor yours understood the truth until it was too late. By his testimony, ultimately neither side was innocent and every death involved was senseless. Notably, he contradicted practically nothing that wasn't a matter of viewpoint.

[Edgeworth takes another sip of tea.]

But I digress. I'm of the opinion that I shouldn't be the one in charge of these decisions at all. As power grows more concentrated, so too does the danger of corruption, and ultimately I'd rather prosecute than lead.
misplacedxsheath: (Who thought that was a good idea?)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-01 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
*He pauses with his own cup of tea halfway to his lips when he hears Edgeworth's claims about Gaignun. He'd been expecting the URTV to claim the Foundation was innocent and solidly in the right. Maybe the URTV did have some sense of-no, he was probably just trying to cover his rear. Denying the claims against him would ultimately turn into a battle of who was most convincing, but acknowledging them and expressing regret would make him look better. Clever.*

Can you think of anyone better suited that you can trust to keep the core of your vision intact?
truthsnomiracle: Edgeworth closes his eyes and sighs. (Sigh)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-06-01 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Of those remaining, Gaignun is the closest I can think of, yet he seems to be far more content to push me further into the spotlight instead. [Edgeworth sighs.] If nothing else, he's been one of the more effective people here at spurring me to solidify and refine my ideas.
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-01 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
*He lets out a quiet growl at the mention of Gaignun and takes a drink of his tea to calm down before he replies.*

Considering the amount of publicity he had in our own world, it comes as no surprise that he would either be eager to regain the amount of fame he's used to or drop off the radar for a change of pace. I can't personally say I would be enthused to see him take center stage, to be honest, but that shouldn't come as any surprise to you.
truthsnomiracle: (Contemplation)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-06-01 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Certainly not, given your history. There is Mr. Ridgeley, I suppose, but he's already taken on other tasks related to our situation. A pity that Mr. Ryudo was among those who vanished early in the month; while he could at times be overprotective, he was by and large a sensible and observant sort, and was already a figure who served to tie many of us together. ...His disappearance only served to increase the burden I'm expected to bear.
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-02 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm afraid I don't have advice to offer in that category. While unpredictable disappearances were becoming widespread by the time I left my world, they were strictly isolated to planets and my organization was relegated entirely to spacecraft thanks to the Federation. I've never personally had to deal with vital allies turning up missing with no warning.
namedforcat: (A quiet moment)

[personal profile] namedforcat 2012-06-02 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, he certainly couldn't miss Saori's grand opening, now could he? Not to mention the fact that he knew he couldn't miss all the tasty things that were sure to appear.

So anyone looking/not looking for Mr. Gaignun Kukai will find him at a small table by a window, with a cup of black tea and plate with some of the macarons. Don't worry, he's pretty social and laid back right now.]
truthsnomiracle: (Is there no other way?)

[personal profile] truthsnomiracle 2012-06-02 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
That particular phenomenon is why it's all the more disconcerting that I'm the only lawyer of any sort here. Defense attorneys with whom I could match wits were rare enough in my own world; the thought that unless Wright returns... (...or, dare I contemplate, our kidnappers' apparent ability to bring even the dead here manifests in certain ways...) ...I may find myself with no equal in the courtroom leaves me wondering how the truth is to be proven at all.
misplacedxsheath: (What a waste.)

[personal profile] misplacedxsheath 2012-06-02 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
A trustworthy ally is always a useful thing to have... *A bit of something unusual flickers in his eyes, nostalgia or...loss?* ...but the absence of one won't necessarily prevent a sharp eye from noticing something is amiss.
namedforcat: (Please continue)

[personal profile] namedforcat 2012-06-02 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
[Squirreling away more tea in a to-go cup, Gaignun has decided to check out the garden area. Oh. Hey! He knows her. Let's go make her talk with her mouth full.]

Oh, hello there April. Lovely day, isn't it?

technologic: (❦ Can you tell me what was ever)

[personal profile] technologic 2012-06-02 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
[She blinks up at him and quickly swallows the mouthful of biscuits she had, before smiling up at him.]

Ah, hi, Gaignun and yeah, it is! And it's nice being able to relax like this.
namedforcat: (Reassuring Smile)

Indeed, Saori has certainly out done herself with this place. It's beautiful.
