WHERE: Private dining hall in the Bay View Hotel.
SUMMARY: Saber eats all of the food. Result of this post. Saber invites people for a potluck except she calls it a feast because she is from the twelfth century.
RATING: PG-13. Who knows with the lot of you!

Drunk already? You don't seem to be the sort not to able to hold your liquor, I must admit. Maybe I should have mentioned I organized feasts that were several times bigger and more luxurious than these, and as the host, I was the one who drank the most, of course.

[ Garviel shakes his head. ] No, I'm just noting an effect I had not previously experienced on my metabolic system. As an Astartes all poisons are filtered out, or rendered inert by various drugs dispensed by our system monitors and combat organs.

Still.... it is not unpleasant. The company is quite nice as well. He ventures a shy grin back, then drinks more, and eats another slab-sided piece of steak. ]

Perhaps not poison proof entirely. There were and remain things capable of felling us through taint, but those were... special.

[ Garviel nods his head, and says. ] It will be the second time I have done so, then. Eating it an emperor, that is. The time before was the feast of Victory after we had defeated the Greenskins on Ullanor. it was a triumph worthy of remembering. I could tell you about it, if you would like.

Please, I find very entertaining the idea of feasts on faraway lands, in times I can't quite imagine. Spare no detail.

I was there for the greatest battle the Imperium has ever known. The gathering of half the primarchs of the Great Crusade, and the Emperor himself. I saw Horus, my gene-father and liege lord, back to back with his father, the Emperor. I saw them slay the great Beast, a huge ork warboss so prodigious it managed to throttle the Emperor himself, until Horus saved him.

It was darkness, it was death. It was glory, the purest war, the greatest test I have ever known. The greenskins were brutal and strong, but we were skilled, and strong as well.

When it was done, and their filth was purged from the face of the world, we levelled an entire continent for our Triumph...

[ Garviel smiles openly now, remembering. ]

The god-machines of the Mechanicus were there, so were the generals of the imperial army. And we lined the road of triumph, the Emperor's Astartes, his gene-grandsons. His honor guard.

I was there when the Emperor gave the laurels of victory to Horus Lupercal, and the rest of the primarchs knelt at the sight of it.

It was the happiest I have ever been, now that I think of it. But it was also the start of the end of the Golden Age of man. [ He looks pained. ]
