Going in for the kill. [Closed]

WHO: Ledah and April.
WHEN: October 15, during the day.
WHERE: Starting inside the library.
SUMMARY: Zombies are out during the day. This is not fair.
RATING: PG-13-R for violence that ends in death.
WARNINGS: Ledah is going to get killed.

The library should have been a peaceful place to research what was going on and make plans. Certainly, Ledah wasn't expecting an attack, and he wasn't going to go out and brandish weapons in broad daylight. So his lance wasn't with him at the moment. He would pick it up before the Dark Hour was upon them.

So when a scream of pain interrupted his thoughts, and he looked up to see that something was clawing and tearing at the librarian's skin, and the other citizens in the room were in a state of panic

Ledah didn't have wings, but one could be forgiven for thinking that for how quickly he flew to April's side. "Are you armed?"

[It was at times like this that April was grateful for the fact that her habit of always carrying a weapon hadn't gone away just yet. So she gives him a nod, withdrawing her pistol from where she kept it hidden underneath her cardigan and shoots the thing a few times in the head, which manages to kill it.]

... Wasn't that one of those zombie things that had started to appear during the Dark Hour recently?

[And her eyes glance around the library to see if there are any more.]

[Another nod and after glancing around some more, a push broom leaning against a nearby wall catches her attention. And it's simple enough to snap the wood so that the end of the broom handle is pointed; not exactly the best weapon, but there's not much else to use from what she can see, so she turns back to Ledah and holds out the handle.]

Will this be okay for now?

[She follows behind him and frowns when she sees how many of them are outside.

She could try shooting at them from here, but she didn't have much ammo on her and the noise of the gunshots might just attract even more of them. And she doubted that they would be able to summon their Personas during the day... But staying here is not a good idea so...]

... Do you think I should try shooting down a few of them? ... Or maybe there's a back exit or something we could use... [She rubs her forehead as she thinks some more.]

[April is looking a bit unsure about this as she glances at him before glancing back out the window. But she steels herself and nods.]

R-right, okay.

[She was worried that this wouldn't end well, but she forced herself to push that worry aside.]

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[She follows right behind him and just blinks at that for a second, before turning her focus on the few zombies that also start to approach, making sure to kill them before they got too close them.]

I'm doing all right so far. [April may have started to feel a bit of exhaustion, but it wasn't a problem and she could still keep going.

And another zombie is shot in the head and she goes to reload her gun, though another tries to take advantage of this pause to attack her, but she manages to shoot it before it could do anything more than leave a few cuts along the top of her arm. It's nothing serious, despite the sharp sting of pain it brought, and April is quick to ignore the injury.]

What about you, how're you feeling?

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[And she gives a smile back, taking another shot at a zombie before answering.] At the moment, it's got 11 more shots left before I need to reload again.

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
[ ...

April frowns at Ledah and shakes her head.]

And what about you? I'm not leaving you behind.

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[She knows he's being practical about this, but when has April ever been practical about anything? So she just shakes her head even more, the frown not leaving her face.]

But what if you get swarmed by these things? Would you be able to fight all of them?

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's right, but she doesn't want to leave him behind. Her frown just grows even more and she shoots down a few zombies before speaking.]

... And what if I do go on ahead, and these things end up injuring you badly o-or worse? [Since the number of them didn't seem to be going down anytime soon.]

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
[Dammit, she couldn't argue with this and she had to force down the strange lump in her throat before trying to speak again.]

B-but- [She flinches at the crack in her voice and turns her attention back to shooting the zombies, though she didn't have that many rounds left now...]

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
[She wanted to argue; she didn't want to do this, but she knew it would just be a waste of time. So, after getting her emotions under control, she steels herself once again and grudgingly nods before moving to go on ahead of him.]

... R-right.

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
[With the path ahead of her clear, she knew she should've went as soon as it was cleared. But she couldn't; it felt like her legs had turned to lead and she couldn't move them. She didn't want to leave him behind, what if he got badly hurt or even killed-

The sudden stinging at her eyes and horrible, cold twist of her stomach catches her off guard, but she forces herself to push those aside and, with one quick glance back at Ledah, she moves on ahead.]

[identity profile] techno-logical.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
[She almost turns back; a part of her was just screaming at her to go back, but what would that accomplish, besides probably getting herself killed? And even though the sound of fire makes her stop for a moment, she just grits her teeth and forces herself to keep going, despite the growing blurriness of her vision and the horrible twist in her stomach.

It isn't long till she reaches the hotel, having made sure to kill any zombies that got in her way.]

[And she does come back later, out of some small hope that he would be okay. But when she comes across him, that horrible, cold twist from before becomes so much more painful and her vision blurs over again. Though when she tries to blink it away, it only results in tears running down her face.

And despite her attempts to brush them away, more just stream down her face as a heavy feeling of guilt wells up in her chest; she shouldn't have just left him, she should've tried to do something, but it's too late for that now. So, she just sobs quietly to herself, pressing the heels of her hands to her eyes as she tries to calm herself down; there are still zombies to fight, after all.]
