It was once again midnight, and once again the process of townspeople turning into coffins repeated itself. The water turned red and sticky- Homura had been staying up to see if what happened the night of her arrival would happen again.

And to her surprise it had. She remembered the last time she had been awake for this, the shadows had moved unsettlingly, almost as though they were planning to attack. It was entirely possible the shadows might do so. She wouldn’t put it past them. With that in mind she takes up her bow and some of her grenades before she leaves to explore.

Best to be prepared, after all.

That... Madoka hadn't made a contract just then. What just happened? Homura would have to ask her after this fight, because right now they were in danger- and even more distressing Madoka was in danger.

Homura takes her bow back up from where she dropped it. She was grateful she had thought ahead and brought some arrows with her. One of which she fires at the enemy before looking back at her friend.

"Madoka?" Well... other than the box of light, her friend seemed alright so far.

That arrow did it. Once that projectile pierced into the creature, it let out a shriek and shriveled into nothingness. It really was true then... Madoka could see their weaknesses. As she opened her mouth to tell Homura that she was fine, from a distance she could see yet another one of those blobby creatures, though the mask it wore seemed slightly different.

"Watch out! There's another one coming!" she points to the incoming enemy. "It's weak to fire!"

She nods in acknowledgement. Madoka was right about the other creature's weakness, so it was likely she would be right about this enemy as well.

Homura closes her eyes and focuses in on Phoenix before delivering another Agi spell at the incoming black blob.

"Are there any more?"

Were there any more? Madoka looked past Homura and ahead, left, then right. All clear. She turns her head to look over her shoulder. The only thing behind her was her serenely smiling Persona. So far, so good. It looks like they were safe.

"I... I don't see anymore..." As soon as Madoka says that, the box in her hands, as well as Pandora, faded away. She blinks, then looks back to Homura. "What did I just do...? It was almost as if... I knew how to do it all along. Do you know what's going on, Homura-chan?"

Then Homura will relax a little. Good, there wasn't anything immediately fatal around. The image of a huge fiery bird dissolved back into light.

She'll turn back to Madoka and take a few steps towards her. The closer she was, the harder it would be for anything to get close enough to Madoka to attack her.

"I'm not sure." And that in itself was bothering her. She just called up a massive bird made up of flame, but she had no idea why she had the power in the first place.

"Mmm... Could it have something to do with this place, then?" Madoka places a hand on her chin as she thinks about this. That could be possible, since she hadn't made a contract... Her thoughts were cut off once she felt the familiar grip of fatigue. Madoka frowns and rubs her forehead. How could that be...? She was perfectly fine a while ago.

"Hey... Do you suddenly feel kind of tired?"

Something to do with this place? It was possible, after all Homura didn’t have these powers before. The huge fiery bird she didn’t have back home. Was it really something about this place that made Phoenix materialize and let its power to her? She didn’t know for sure, but she notes it as possible.

Now that Madoka mentioned it, the familiar feeling of fatigue made itself known. Homura shouldered her bow. “Let’s go back.” It wouldn’t do to be ambushed when they were already tired.

"Yeah..."

Madoka nodded with compliance. She knew she'd only get in Homura's way if she was tired. Maybe it would be better for them to investigate another day after getting some good rest. She'll follow Homura once the other girl starts making her way back to the hotel.
