She's survived far too many cruelties to allow something of this nature to upset her. Plus, it only makes this place seem more like a graveyard without someone alive and well like Shirou here.

He took a deep breath, sighing.

"And I wish to help you. I do not know how, but I want to all the same."

"The boy--" It's easier to refer to him by that than name right now. "--returned to his proper time. We all knew this was just borrowed, an existence that should have never come to pass. Now that he is no longer here to serve as a distraction, my proper calling can finally be my focus."

Realizing her rudeness, she'll hold open the door for him.

"Archer is out, so you are free to step inside if you like."

Hardly hesitating a second, Diarmuid stepped inside..though it was a moment or two before he spoke again.

"...it should not have to be your only focus, Arturia. And I would not expect you to conceal any pain you would be feeling. You do trust me, do you not? So why do you insist upon acting in this way?

"For a king cannot falter and as long as one of my knights remain here.."

Before she can even reach the verge of tears, one of the lion cubs does what they do best ... try to tackle Diarmuid in a loving, 'hey bro, been forever since I've licked you, what did you bring me' kind of way.

"...We agreed that we were equal, Arturia." he said softly, leaning over enough to give the affectionate lion a scratch behind the ears. "I swore loyalty to you and you to me; though I care for you deeply and would do all that you asked, I follow no lord or king as a subordinate now."

Straightening up, he focused a calm and steady gaze on her.

"I hold absolute loyalty to you as I believe you do for me. So would you confide in me not as a king or as a knight, but as one of my dearest friends?"

Well, if he wishes for them to be equal and friends, she'll approach him as any other girl in her situation would. Well, sort of. She'll reach up to try to place her arms over his shoulders in a hug.. but stand there looking really short instead.

"... this is embarrassing."

Diarmuid smiled at that, careful not to laugh openly for fear of embarrassing her any further.

"I'm sorry about that, Arturia." He leaned over so she could reach a bit easier, wrapping his arms securely around her.

"He used to hug me often because he said it was a way of making one feel better without having to exchange words. He knew that since I was not.. adept in the latter, that moments I could be quiet in were the best."

And now Diarmuid has one Arturia latched onto him tightly.

"He certainly wasn't wrong. I do not think I can claim to be very good with speaking myself. But...i believe this works just as well."

In response he held her close with a small smile; there wasn't much else he could do to comfort her. So Diarmuid would do his best to be sure this would count.

She's just going to cling to him tightly as though in doing so, she wouldn't have to accept the fact she was alone now.
