forgive me, father, for I have sinned
Who: David and Beatrice
Where: Starts out on the streets, then moves on..!!
When: After Beatrice goes away from Gilgameshand right into David's arms.
What: David needs all the women as wives so you can bet he isn't satisfied with just one when he runs into another helpless woman.
Rating: WOW DAVID IS A GENTLEMAN MIND YOU.
[ David was doing.. fairly well, really, all things considered. This whole Valentine's Day thing was a new experience to him, but going out for the day with Asmodeus had been rather pleasant and flattering. Even though he's just wearing his lineface as usual when he walks down the streets of Prospero in his slightly more casual clothing, he's practically glowing on the inside, really.
Little does he know he is about to run into someone. ]

She immediately recognized her error and rested her hands on what would be the affected area.]
O..Oh! Forgive me, please! I just...I wasn't paying attention. I didn't hurt you, did I, David~?
no subject
I am fine, please do not worry. .. I do hope the same counts for you too, though.
no subject
Physically, I'm quite alright. Oh, but I had to be sure you were good as well. These last few days have been just awful. I...I don't think I could bear it if I did something to make you dislike me.
[She was a little flustered, but she meant it. She truly enjoyed having him close to her, especially since two people she considered close were out of the picture, now.]
no subject
I assure you there is nothing you could do to make me dislike such a respectable woman as you. [ He carefully and gently takes the hand on his shoulder, holding it with both of his hands instead as he looks at her. ]
What happened that caused your days to be that way?
no subject
V/V...someone hurt her. I mean...they killed her. I just don't understand how someone could do that to her. She is so innocent.
And then there's Gilgamesh. The two of us had really gotten close, well as far as I was concerned, and then he runs back to Saber. Part of me understands. Maybe losing V/V made him want someone more familiar.
Ah, forgive me. I hate unloading all of this onto you. I just feel so...useless. I can't revive V/V without my powers...I can't even keep a man with me.
no subject
It is unfortunate to hear about what happened to V/V.. I can assure you that the person responsible for this will be found and made to confess his sins.
[ but more importantly-- he reaches up to wipe the area around her eyes just a little. ]
It is not your fault what he has done to you. [ It does seem like somewhat of a cruel move, Gil once again proves to not be a real bro..?! ] It must be difficult for you to have to deal with both these things at once, but do not blame yourself for them. If anything, I would like to take your burdens upon me instead, so you do not have to feel this way.
no subject
I wouldn't give you these troubles to shoulder even if I could. However, if it were possible, I wish I could direct my attentions toward someone more like you. It's far too tiring chasing after someone who loves another. It would be better to have someone devoted. I've always admired that quality in you.
no subject
Then.. [ okay, David, this is your chance to try and be all suave..!! He strokes her cheek lightly with his thumb. ] Why do you not forget about the man who will not even give you a second thought and get the attention a woman like you deserves?
no subject
I'd love to have someone to show me that kind of attention. Would you happen to be volunteering for the position, then?
no subject
It would be a shame if I let a woman like you alone in the cold, and.. I would be glad either way to take such a duty upon me.
no subject
Glad, really~? Ah, I do hope you won't view me as a duty. Let me be viewed as someone you take pleasure in being close to.
You must think me awfully fickle. I assure you, in this case, that's not true. I want to be with someone who puts me above others. You can do that, right? Will you give me the kind of commitment I desire, David~?
no subject
Aside from my God, the only other one I will devote myself to is you, and only you.
no subject
You say the most beautiful things. I can hardly catch my breath.
If you can give me such reverence, how could I ever say no to you? But...how will you to prove your loyalty to me? I...I need some assurance in this life I've been thrown into. I'd like that to be you.
no subject
I will do anything for you.. would that be a decent enough way to prove my loyalty? Just ask something from me, and I shall carry it out no matter what it is.
no subject
No matter what, hm?
Well, as I recall, a friend of yours had told me you were...well looking for a wife...I cannot promise I will be ideal, but this is the ultimate kind of loyalty, is it not?
no subject
[ He's just repeating these words idly since he's too much in near shock instead - she's speaking of marriage, right? That what he just wanted, and.. stay cool, David.. but--!! ]
If you are talking about marrying you, I will gladly do that. No, instead I have to say that of course I would marry you and take you as my wife. It would please me greatly to do so.
no subject
[She wasn't sure what was really pushing her to do this. Was it the rejection she was reeling from? Perhaps losing V/V made her realize the impermanence of this? Perhaps she was just tired of being unsure about her feelings and this would settle it? Who knows. She was going to have the affection she needed, and that was that.]
It is up to you how you would have this take place. Only, I would prefer haste in the matter. I'd soon like to call you my husband, and I'm sure you'd appreciate every perk that comes with the title.~ ♥
[If that doesn't speed things up, nothing will.]
no subject
Do not worry, I assure there will be great haste in the matter. We should not waste any more moments seperated from each other, after all. [ There's something almost eager about him, even with the lineface (although that slightly cracked already). ] Once I find out how marriages take place in this sort of city, I will make work of it.
no subject
Splendid. Absolutely splendid.
I know what a religious man you are, but perhaps it would be advisable just to find a city official to preside over the two of us. It would be quicker and much less complicated given the situation. All we would need is a justice of the peace. Even an island would have that much, right?
no subject
I wonder if they would be able to do something like this for us on such short notice.
no subject
[And why not? She wouldn't protest wearing a white gown and walking an aisle for him. She'd take his hand in hers and drop it to her side, leading him along. She'd wandered this place often enough to know where to look for someone official.]
Well, there's only one way to find out, right~? ♥
no subject
Then we should head off straight away, don't you think?
no subject
Now, you're sure you really want to be linked to someone like me? We've come into some luck. The justice of the peace is free for the afternoon. We wouldn't have to wait...unless you want to. But, I think this would be good for both of us.
[A deep breath.]
I do believe I'm ready to be your wife if you're ready to be my husband.
no subject
[ It's a good thing she was only gone for a while, really - right now he feels he couldn't even go for long without her, the woman he was about to swear his eternal vows to.. If this wasn't proof that God really was out there helping him, he doesn't know what would be. ]
Right now, becoming your husband.. It would be my wish, and an honor, as well, for a lady as beautiful as yourself to want to marry me. Right now would be fine with me. Or rather.. perhaps it is just that waiting anymore would be unbearable, would it not?
no subject
You lowly dog!
no subject
You have absolutely GOT to be shitting me.
Gilgamesh, what is the meaning of this interruption? I had thought you'd be long lost in the arms of your ice queen by now. And yet, here you are. What have I done to make you dislike me so? Have you not had your fill of wounding my foolish heart?
no subject
... And what would the exact meaning of this be? [ yup, keeping his cool still now, even though he's about to possibly be decked in the face.. ]
no subject
You know exactly what the meaning is. You wretch. You would dare steal the hand of another man's promised queen? As if you don't already have enough women as it is. I know your history, David. You've had more wives in your life time than I've swords in my treasury. But to sink so low as to steal her away from me. I will not forgive you. Prepare yourself and we shall do battle, mongrel.
no subject
Have you gone mad, Gilgamesh? David had nothing to do with this. You left me, if you'll recall, for Saber. Why are you not at her side? You said she needed you and I bowed out gracefully. I wasn't stolen, I walked away to save face.
no subject
As far as I know, she was not your 'promised queen'. She said she was tired of chasing someone who loves another. If you cannot treat a woman with the respect and love she deserves, someone else would have to stand in for that. [ Toootally ignoring those remarks about his past, you mad, bro? ]
But if it is truly a battle you require, then I shall not back down, for her honor's sake.
no subject
T'ch! What the hell is wrong with you? I was trying to find you to apologize, and I find you trying to get married to the King of Harems. When the fuck did I ever say anything about wanting to be with her in that way? I almost killed her. If I hadn't of went back to find her, she would have been dead and I would have been the most wanted man on this damned island! I have enough enemies as it is.
[ It was probably a good thing David did happen to step back up, because dwelling any longer on his confused as fuck feelings could have resulted in a much worse and regrettable outburst. Instead, he'll take a step back and ready himself for the apparent fight. ]
What would you even know of love? You're nothing but a fool who collects women as if they are some sort of treasure. You're no better than I am! [ ...Wait, why did he even admit that? Completely unsure, but with that, he's going to charge! ]
no subject
What's there to apologize for? You made your decision. As if that's so hard to believe. She LIVES with you. I know for a fact you love her no matter how she denies and rejects you. I had hoped...that I could perhaps show you a reciprocated love. But it wasn't enough. You injured her, yes, but have you no care for your own wounds? You'd have left your death bed to tend to her. You have no right to deny me a man who cares for me.
[She hadn't been aware of it, but sometime during the conversation, her eyes had flooded with tears. Whether out of sadness or frustration, she couldn't tell.]
no subject
But then he notices Beatrice out of a corner of his eye and.. no, he can't do this much, and he glances at Gilgamesh and gestures as if giving him a sign to stop. If he doesn't stop, then oh well, David will take one in the face if he has to in exchange for politeness. ]
Do you truly desire to fight while the woman you are fighting over is clearly upset? Let us at least handle that much first, as should be a man's duty.
no subject
But at the same time, these feelings for the witch had surfaced. He had no idea where they may have come from, but he accepted them. And you know why? Because it felt good to actually have his love returned for once. They actually had something. And he didn't want to let that go. ...He wasn't going to accept this. Not easily.
David's signal will not be in vain, but the King of Heroes hasn't completely ruled giving him a beat down just yet. His attention for the time being will be focused solely on Beatrice, as he tries to think of something, anything at all to say. ]
You mistake the past for the present. While it's true I may have harbored feelings for the legendary King of Knights, can I really say that the feeling is still as strong now? Perhaps everything I do for her is merely out of the force of habit. She lives with me, but how often do I actually see her? How much of my time does she actually occupy?
[ A pause, but then he moves towards Beatrice, looping his arms with one of hers and attempting to lead her away. He has no actual destination in mind, he's simply getting them away from the annoyance. ]
Honestly, I've had enough with this non-sense. I have no time for these games of assumption. Beatrice, we're leaving.

Your obsession for her is imprinted in you right down to your soul. I ignored it perhaps out of the selfishness of wanting to be the one at your side. But I can't overlook it any longer. I will not be your second best. Your interest in her may wane, but as long as you still feel for her enough to rise from a bed of bandages, that obsession exists. And it's too strong even for me to overcome.
[With that, she'd turn to David. She'd truly earn her reputation as a horrible witch by turning away this man.]
David, dearest David. I'm afraid I've been unfair to you as he has been unfair to me. He can't love me completely and, in turn, I cannot love you completely. You deserve the finest wife, sadly I cannot be that for you. I hope you'll forgive me.
no subject
A part of him, small and bitter and jealous and vindictive, almost lashes out for once, or at least tells him to do so. He's already taken women by force before, right? If he had already sinned enough to send out a man to die in battle only to take his wife, then what would one more or less be? He could do it, it would be so easy--
... But no. He can't do it. Not to a woman he truly felt happy with, not in the eyes of a God that had already punished him for it once. ]
... I forgive you. [ He's grateful for his pokerface, really, even if his voice is a little softer than normal. He's definitely not going to linger around here in front of that man and that woman with only his bitterness and pain to wallow in. So without saying another word he just nods at the two and sharply turns to walk away.
Clearly to go and drink his sorrows away somewhere alone.]
