Time for Tanabata!

WHO: Haruhi and whoever else is around!
WHEN: July 7th, early evening.
WHERE: Roof of the Bayview Hotel
SUMMARY: It's Tanabata~ will Hikoboshi and Orihime meet tonight?
RATING: PG.
WARNINGS: None.

Even though she was now in America, Haruhi wasn't going to let one of her favorite holidays go by without notice!  The high schooler had gathered all the necessary items for her own tanabata celebration on the roof of the hotel.  Earlier in the day she had hunted down bamboo potted plants (or what appeared to be bamboo; if it wasn't perfect that was fine), and gathered colored pieces of paper and string. The weather had managed to cooperate with the holiday as well; the skies were clear, and though they were a bit dimmer due to the city lights, the stars could be clearly seen.

"So I figured out last year that it would take 25 years for my wish to get to one star and 16 years to the other," Haruhi mumbled to herself. "But if they're coming from America would it be different?  Maybe a little faster since Americans are so speedy and impatient."  She flopped down on the ground and pulled a magic marker's cap off with her mouth. 

"Wish time!" Ignoring everything around her, Haruhi began scribbling her wishes on two different pieces of paper.

"Of course!" Haruhi looked up with a grin. "Want to make a wish?"

Grabbing a couple pieces of paper and a marker, she hands it over. "Make sure it's good! You only get one chance a year!"

With a nod, he grabs slips and pauses to think up some wishes.

Ah... That would work. Uncapping the marker, he scribbles down his wishes.

"So what did you pick?"

Instead of responding verbally, he just holds them up for her to see. One reads "World peace" while the other simply says "Strawberry ramen".

"Yeah, but there are rules to magic. Like in Harry Potter, how you need to have specific words for a spell, and some things just can't be solved by magic."

"Besides," Haruhi said with a sigh. "I haven't had a single wish granted from Tanabata in all my life, so I gotta believe it must be because Hikobushi and Orihime haven't gotten them yet."

"Nah, I change 'em every year. I always think of something better. Last year I wished for the world to revolve around me and for the world to revolve backwards."
