Gilgamesh and Enkidu's Excellent Adventure
WHO: Enkidu & Gilgamesh. And anyone else, of course.
WHEN: Dark Hour, August 16th.
WHERE: The Shopping District.
SUMMARY: Enkidu and Gilgamesh go out on a date.
RATING: PG-13 for language, violence, adult themes... Potentially R?
WARNING: Nothing in particular. Maybe one too many bro hugs or some vivid descriptions of blood.
[ Note:
Enkidu is this color and
Gilgamesh is this color. ]
Tick. Tock.
The conversation is cut short as a shadow skitters out of the alleyway nearby, charging at the two. Enkidu stares but Gilgamesh lunges, shoving his first sword inside of the damned thing as hard as he possibly could. The shadow shudders with a blade stuck in it, then stops moving.
"Ha, it seems these beasts can come from any location. Be on your guard at all times. Though I'm sure you'll have no problem if what you say is true."
Gilgamesh picks up another sword, spinning the blades in his hands with disinterest on his face. A materializes from behind a car in front of the two and leaps into the air toward Enkidu. Enkidu hops back as the shadow--in the shape of a hand--collides into the ground, then he springs and hops forward, practically jumping on top of it and driving his sword right into the shadow. He ends up lodging the tip of the blade into the sidewalk and through the monster, as it too shudders its last moments then stops moving.
"Brother, that beast resembled a hand... Are these really beasts at all?"
"Call them whatever you will, they can be formidable enemies. These creatures nearly killed the one person to ever succeed in defeating me. That should tell you something."
"You've been defeated?"
~
Their "date" takes a turn for the worse, when a little while later they find themselves surrounded. The shadows prove to be fierce opponents. They easily swarm with overwhelming numbers, and Gilgamesh and Enkidu find themselves sandwiched and surrounded by a dozen of them. They are back to back and cornered by several shadows! The infamous Briefcase of Babylon is lying between the two, opened with most of the swords missing. Both have a sword in each hand. Both look pretty beat up. Enkidu hacks an approaching shadow at his right. The shadow takes slash damage but it still moves.
All of a sudden, one of the damned hands from the back of the mini mob casts a magic spell. A strong gale icy cold rips past the two, Enkidu specifically, and he takes magic damage. Enkidu roars, growing impatient with this turn of events. Suddenly barrels forward into the mob of Dancing Hands shadows, hacking, slashing and shouting.
"Follow me brother!"
[ Feel free to post whenever! Perhaps you got caught up outside too late? Or you're out on the hunt for shadows, too? Enkidu, Gilgamesh, Enkidu and Gilgamesh might be responding to your actions. ]

Tick. Tock.
Tick. Tock.
Finally, the clock on one of the Shopping Distract buildings strikes midnight. The dark twilight-capped sky fades into a sickening, pale green color with the moon also brightening and enlargening to a fetid yellow. Everything comes to an immediate halt. The world takes on a sickly glow. Dark Hour is here.
Gilgamesh and Enkidu are on a street corner. Gil wanted Enkidu to witness the Dark Hour and the modern world coming to a grinding halt. Gilgamesh palms the flat of his blade impatiently. "Let us hope you are not as rusty as I was when I first arrived, brother. It would be a shame if you fell so easily to these fiends."

...But then there was that sudden burst of fire that scattered the shadows. Surely these things would not attack each other, so that only meant... Oh, damn it.
"And just what do you think you're doing?"

Of course, she won't let the opportunity to bicker over her shoulder go to waste. "Oh, believe me, if I'd known it was you I'd have turned around and let the Shadows eat you. But unfortunately I didn't, so I'm going to finish what I started. Suck it up."

"Ha... ha... See? I don't need the help of some little... girl. Nn."
Of course, all this relentless attacking has left him exhausted. He somehow fails to realize all the shortcomings of this accursed human body. He doesn't even notice the shadow creeping up behind him.

She turns around and sees another Shadow creeping up on him. After a cursory glance that makes it seem like it's the last one, she gathers her energy. Suzaku fires the Agi, incinerating the Shadow, so close to him that he can probably feel a flare from its heat. "Looks to me like you did," she calls as she runs over.

"...call yourself king, and yet you can't even handle a few creatures by yourself. If I ever find out who brought me here, I'll..."
For someone that had always prided himself on being the biggest, baddest, strongest person alive... This was really doing a wonder on his ego. Perhaps it was actually needed. Out of frustration, he'll throw his last remaining blade into the night sky. It was pointless but he had to do something to expel just a bit of the anger he was feeling.

"It's nothing to worry about. We should probably be checking on them though."
While they had obviously cleared their part of the battlefield, it looked like his brother and that apparent history lover were still in the middle of their fight. But would he really rush into another fight in the condition he's in? Yes, yes he would. And he's already walking off towards the mayhem.

"...The gods must be rolling in their graves if a mere mongrel can use the powers they gave birth to."

She looks at him closer, trying to tell whether the Dia had been enough. "Did that help at all?"
no subject
"It doesn't matter. I've survived worse."
