Fortune Full Moon Log

When midnight strikes and the dark hour falls, and things are beginning to look as they did on that fateful night a month ago. The streets are empty of shadows. The characters feel a strange power pulling them, not towards the dungeon, but to the Golden Palace Casino.

Once there characters will find a large creature (the Fortune) in on top of the roof. It resembles a giant pair of dice with a mask on the taller stack. On the ground below are smaller shadows (Merciless Mayas), standing in two groups either side of an extremely large spinning wheel that once stood in the entry way of the building.  In front of the wheel are Kanda and Syd, both tied up and caged bent and broken prop items from inside the casino.

When characters try to get closer, the wheel will be spun and after a few moments. Kanda is released.  Syd will be suddenly carted off to the roof to stay trapped beside the Arcana shadow and suddenly the smaller shadows will start to attack.

The groups can consist of three to six people. The objective is the defeat the smaller shadows, doing so will defeat the Fortune and save Syd.

That's true enough. [It was a belief far older than Lancer's time, and one he remembered as being carefully honored in an age of pagans. It was likely that even modern magi were influenced by the moon and stars somehow.]

I would imagine that if these creatures are magically inclined somehow, then they would follow such old traditions.

They could be. I guess it depends on what you consider magic. I call it madness.

At least they don't talk like the other monster.
croibhristeoir: (didn't I my dear)

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2011-08-20 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Magecraft is magecraft, simple enough. Though the kind that would create things like that is a sign of a magus I would consider a serious threat.

Talk like-...? Oh. I see, so you have one of them as well? Maybe it is everyone that's wound up here.

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends on if you believe in magic. I'm not exactly going to utterly deny it, but I prefer to think it's just cracks in reality, that sometimes seep through, than real magic. I've never seen someone cast a spell, but I don't know if it'd be impossible.

....You too? It's different, in ways, from the one back home.

And in some ways too similar.

Logical enough, I suppose. There's no fault in being skeptical when one hasn't seen concrete proof.

Yes, myself as well as many others I've spoken to. You had something like this at home?

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"Concrete" proof is a misnomer. I'm not sure anything is objectively true. It's perception. That's what makes reality.

That's....unsettling.

Sort of. It came from my head, like this one does. Unlike this one so far, it got out. So I kept it behind my wall.

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2011-08-20 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
...That's certainly an interesting take on the concept, I'll admit.

I don't believe these things--Personas, I'm told they're called--can get out for very long at a time. I've tried, it's difficult to maintain.

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I've noticed. At least this monster hurts the others, which I suppose is good. Or it's despicable. I'm not sure yet.
croibhristeoir: (before i let you get away)

...There's truly no way to say for certain just yet. My own has the name of a good and honorable person, yet I'm told he looks nothing like the individual he claimed to be.

For all we know, these Personas taking the form of benevolent deities and knights are the same as the Shadows themselves. But what I do know is that they seem to work for our protection regardless of origin or nature.

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
So he's a liar, by default.

Benevolent? Please.

They seem to be protecting us. But they need us. They live inside us. In short? They're fucking parasites.
croibhristeoir: (don't need money with a face like that)

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2011-08-20 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No. [Lancer's reply was immediate, refusing to believe that someone he almost instinctively knew to be that particular knight could be a liar. No matter what Shirou had said, Lancer felt somehow that he was right.] I don't believe it to be a lie, but I can't say for certain why things don't properly match up yet.

'Parasite' implies a relationship harmful to the host, does it not? [Yeah, he's been looking through the occasional dictionary. Being a modern human is hard.] I've heard and experienced nothing of the sort so far.

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Has it ever occurred to you it might be a very good liar then, or your own misconception?

[Sorry Lancer. Johnny's kind of hesitant to trust anything in general, and shit that comes out of your head as a whole.]

So far.

Sometimes? They trick you. They seem nice. Like guests you've been waiting for you didn't know you wanted. All they needed was for you to invite them in the house. And once they're inside?

They fuck it up as hard as they can. They make holy hell all over everything, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
croibhristeoir: (rate yourself and rake yourself)

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2011-08-20 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[It was true that perhaps they were all a little too trusting of entities that had just decided to manifest in their own minds. Who was to say it wasn't another trick of the Dark Hour?]

Perhaps you're right. It's certainly a possibility--but it's equally as possible that I'm right. I certainly can't say one way or another, and should I be proven wrong...let's just hope that doesn't happen.

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well to be fair Lancer Johnny is beyond nuts and horrifically paranoid. Hopefully that helps.]

I guess that's fair enough.

So this happens whenever there's a full moon? A lot more than usual show up and fuck up a place?
croibhristeoir: (tell me what it is you have in store)

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2011-08-20 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is very much fact.]

...essentially, yes. Or that's what's happened these last two times.
croibhristeoir: (before i let you get away)

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2011-08-20 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I can hardly stand by and do nothing while others put themselves in danger.

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
So what you'll throw yourself into a fight that isn't going to go anywhere and that we can't possibly win? I mean, I keep hearing this bullshit about it being a war. A war we have to win, for humanity, and blah fucking blah.

My question is: who started the war?
croibhristeoir: (tell me what it is you have in store)

[personal profile] croibhristeoir 2011-08-20 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
...I don't know. When I first arrived here the Shadows were already scattered throughout the city. And out of those brought here, I've spoken to no one that knows of any time before they existed.

How the Shadows came to exist, why and how we were brought here, and whatever our Personas really are...they're all questions I've found no answers to. We may as well add 'who started all of this' to the list at this point.

[identity profile] becomes-cold.livejournal.com 2011-08-20 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
But it just makes sense to you to fucking kill them anyway?

I'm not a fucking saint, but at least I call murder "murder". You could at least admit to yourself what a shit behavior and view this whole thing is about deciding to just slaughter them is.
