Where: a spare room in the basement of the Back-End Bar.

Warnings: Gambling, booze, man tears, whatever.

On September 27, everyone will receive a text from Kaiji with the following information:
Poker tonight (game & buy-in tbd), basement of bar, 1:00AM. Anyone welcome.

Of course, he's not taking into account minors, but that doesn't mean they can't sneak in, right?

To anyone who comes, Kaiji will be sitting at a table, shuffling some cards, a case of cheap beer sitting next to him to share with everyone. Several chairs surround the table, and a case of poker chips sits open, waiting to be sorted. Fifty dollars sits on the table in front of Kaiji - that's what he plans for a buy-in for now, but is willing to adjust if need be.

Kaiji will give a nod to anyone who walks in. "Have a seat, grab a drink. Do you know how to play?"

Kaiji smirked at that. "Same here. But you have to be willing to risk it if you want to win. You sure you don't want in?"

"I'm considering it carefully." Ryuunosuke pulls up a chair. "Got to make serious decisions."

"Do you even know how to play?"

Kaiji slid a beer Ryuunosuke a can of beer across the table.

Cool, free beer. Ryuunosuke pops open the tab. "Yeah, I've been in enough places to pick up a few kinds. I travel."

"Good. I was afraid everyone in this town wouldn't have a clue. Though I guess that would only up my chances in the end, it kinda sucks out the fun."

"So, you interested?"

"Sure, why not?" Ryuunosuke counts out fifty bucks. "Here you go."

Saori was on her way back to the hotel after some solo training. She looked at the text message she recieved earlier. Well, she did have some extra money and she was off from work...oh why not.

She headed over to the location and ended. When Kaiji asked her if she played before, she nodded.

"I remember some of the rules." She learned how to play from her American host family's father when she studied abroad.

"It's not too hard. I even got this." Kaiji slid over a list of hands (http://www.casino-tribune.com/images/rank_of_poker_hands.gif) to Saori. "I figured with people coming from all over creation, there'd be a lot who needed to learn."

When she looked over the list, she couldn't help but smile. "I guess there are some consistencies between worlds." She pulled out a fifty from her wallet to place on the table and sat down.

Kaiji dealt her chips and cards. "Good, that makes things easier. Though if you didn't know how, my chances of winning would have went up."

"Now, now, where's the fun in that? A challenge is what makes gambling fun. But we'll just see who's side Lady Luck is on, shall we?" Even though Saori wasn't much of a gambler, a game like this would be a perfect stress reliever against fighting Shadows and trying to adjust to life in Prospero.

Money was good, too, but Kaiji always had a better time gambling like this as opposed to at a place like the casino. His poker face has improved from just a few months ago, at least, though his luck is about bad as ever.

Miki grabs a drink, slams herself down in a chair and stares hard at Kaiji.

"Nope. Doesn't mean I won't win."

That's an attitude Kaiji could appreciate. He's developed a good poker face though, and for now just gave Miki a sly smirk.

"Is that so. Well, might as well familiarize yourself with the hands, at least." Kaiji tossed Miki a piece of paper with a list of winning hands (http://www.casino-tribune.com/images/rank_of_poker_hands.gif) for her to look over.

"Five-card draw, no wild cards. Fifty dollars to buy in."

"It's not, trust me. I make shit money and I can still afford it." Well, that's debatable, but he's got an addiction to feed.

"That's more like it." He'll give her a fast and dirty run-down of the rules as he deals cards and chips.

How did Sakurako get in here even though she's only sixteen years old? It is truly a mystery to all. Probably the same way she managed to get into that other bar to sing karaoke the other night - just walking in oblivious to age limits and acting like she belongs there. At any rate, here she is in the basement now, taking a seat at the table.

"I don't have a job yet, so I don't really have a lot of money to bet with... is it okay if I just pay back the $50 buy-in with my winnings at the end of the night?"

Sakurako digs into her pocket, coming up with the equivalent of about $10 in yen. It's all she had on her when she arrived in Prospero.

"Is that enough? Like I said, I'll pay the pot back later when I win!"
