[Ingrid has cleared out one of the larger rooms in the school. The floor's been cleared of seating and in the corner there's a record player poised to start playing. Several record lay beside it. Ingrid's at the board, drawing diagrams of foot work. When Ledah arrives, she smirks at him.]

I do hope you put work into this. I wager that a certain dear red head wouldn't enjoy having her feet stepped on.

[Ledah nods and focuses on it carefully. It doesn't sound too hard.]

And we'll apply a set of movements to the beat. On the board I have a diagram of the proper foot movements. I'll demonstrate, so watch my feet. [Holding out her arms, she moves in the tradational waltz pattern.]

[With great concentration, Ledah stares at Ingrid's feet, and tries mimicking her pattern very slowly.]

A bit more smoothly, dear.

[Attempt two goes a tiny bit more smoothly.]

Better. [She approaches him, arms out.] This type of dancing is not meant to be done alone. Put one hand on my waist.

[He does so, lightly.] Like this?

Very good. Now repeat those motions with me.

[Again very slowly, he repeats the motions.]

[She smiles.]

You'll have the young ladies swept off their feet in no time.

I'm not seeking any.

You're ruining the fun with responses like that.

I am?

[Once again, he has no idea.]

Yes. [Bluntly.] I can't tease you at all.

Ah. I've come here to learn, so it doesn't matter as much to me what else happens.

Oh, I'll teach you just fine. It just takes the fun out of things when I can't get a rise out of my students.

I'm sorry.

Nor do I see reason to. Shall we go on?

Yes. Well, the waltz is one of the easier dances to learn, as it is so slow. How about we do something a little faster and more contemporary?

I would agree to that.

[You poor fool.]

Splendid. [She moves to put on another record.] How about the fox trot?

[She so hip with the times.]

I would be happy to learn the fox trot.

[This is the most modern dance class.]

[She puts on the record, smiling as the song plays.] I love this song. Listen first, then i'll show you the moves.

[Ledah listens silently to appreciate his teacher's good taste in music.]
