To be fair, Edgeworth had a practical reason to come see Diarmuid anyway. If not for that, he might have hesitated to bring mere emotional concerns to his father, however heavy they might be. As things currently stood, however, as long as he was coming for an extra lesson anyway, he might as well ask for some help clearing his head so he could actually concentrate on it.

Edgeworth knocked on the door.

I've been continuing my research as well, particularly since practicing with a halberd last Sunday.

Oh? Anything particularly interesting?

I believe that a weapon similar to a glaive may strike the balance I've wished to find. Something of the sort with a sturdy, straight blade and no side projections would be ideal, as that would allow a full impalement while also allowing significant wounds to be dealt with other forms of attack.

Sounds simple enough. We'll have to find you one.

Hopefully we won't be at the mercy of the antique store's inventory for long. Or do you have other locations or methods in mind?

Well, I've collected a reasonable amount of lances and similar weapons; I acquired quite a few before settling on the ones I use now.

I see. I should have expected no less. Shall we proceed to where you've stored them before we head to our practice location, then?

Of course.

[Somewhere in this room there is a closet filled with lances.]

(That is quite the collection, Father. I haven't seen so many polearms in one place since I last saw the Steel Samurai episode "The Phalanx of Imperial Avenue".)

[With amazement at the selection before him, Edgeworth begins carefully rummaging through the closet...]

[Edgeworth eventually pulls out a weapon with a single narrow, single-edged, nearly straight blade at the top -- not exactly what he was thinking, but certainly in the neighborhood. The weapon's haft is about five feet long, and the blade makes it roughly six feet in all.]
